Grouse / Sunsets (5/15/14)

I woke up a few mornings ago and saw this guy strutting his stuff:

Sharp-tailed grouse – Displaying male (Sorry – blurry)

I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeing him correctly.  I thought maybe the poor thing had rabies or something.  Really, I should have taken a video.  I’ve never seen a bird walk around like this guy.  A search of the bird book and good ‘ole Google confirmed this is a sharp-tailed grouse, specifically, a “displaying male.”  I gotta say, I don’t know what that dance is supposed to do for anyone.  If he was my friend, I would have said “Put your tail feathers down and just stop.”
