Huey! (8-10-14)
It all started when Huey Lewis walked into the Northern Hotel bar. Well, let me back up. This really all started back in April when JR bought Blues Fest tickets for us for my birthday. Thanks Honey! So, Huey Lewis walked into a bar. Not just any bar, but the bar I was in (JR was there too). I got giggly/silly, he (Huey) looked over our way, so I waved at him. And he waved back. So, of course, I had to call my parents. They, after all, took me to my very first concert to see none other than Huey Lewis & The News.
So, I tell my parents Huey is sitting right across from us at the bar and my Dad says, “Well, if you don’t go over there right now and get his autograph, it’s never going to happen.” Well, dang. I guess so. I asked the bartender if he thought Huey would go for a picture if we sent him a drink. Haven’t you always wanted to send someone a drink? It’s so “movie” like. Anyway, the bartender said, “He’s fine, just go ask him.” So, ask we did. Let me back up again. Before JR and I went over there, I asked him if he would care if I gave Huey a kiss on the cheek. JR said he didn’t mind! Hee hee hee! Plan set.
So, we walked over just as a few other fans were walking away and I asked Huey if he minded one more picture. “Sure,” he says. I told him my husband said I could kiss him on the cheek and asked him if he would mind. “Nope, go ahead” he said. Hee hee hee! As you can imagine, there was a lot of girlish giggling throughout this whole five minute encounter. I told Huey his show was the first concert I ever went to and he said, “What, when you were seven?” Giggle, giggle. Pause. Yes, when I was seven. Ha ha ha ha. Thank you Huey. (Actually I was 11 or 12 but I’ll take the compliment). We told Huey thanks and let him be. That was super fun.
Later on that evening I was thinking back on what happened and started giggling some more. JR said, “Stop thinking about kissing Huey!” I have the best husband in the world!! Evidence:
How much fun was that! Your husband is a prince!
I agree Lynne! Love the picture!
I love this story!
